NORMAN, Okla.   University of Oklahoma men's gymnast Josh Gore was one of 24 Big 12 student-athletes selected to receive the 2004-05 Dr. Prentice Gautt Postgraduate Scholarship, the conference announced Wednesday.  Gore is the first OU male gymnast to receive the award and only the third OU male athlete to receive the award.

“I'm very honored to receive such a prestigious award,” said Gore.  “I worked very hard to get to this academic level and it is nice to see the hard work pay off.  As for receiving an award named after Dr. Gautt, it is a huge honor.  I had the opportunity to meet him a year ago and even though it was for just one day, it was a great honor for me to get to talk such a great educational pioneer.”

The Pflugerville, Texas native completed his athletic eligibility by receiving his second and third All-America honors and helping the Sooners to their third national title in four years.  Gore had previously received an All-America honor in 2004.
