Sooners Set to Host Susie Maxwell Berning Classic

NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma women's golf team will host the annual Susie Maxwell Berning Classic April 10-11 in Norman, Okla. The tournament is being played at the 5,920-yard, par-70 Trails Golf Club.
Starting for the Sooners will be Amparo Gala, Kelly Jacques, Emily Milberger, Jaclyn Stelzer and Heather Wright. Charli Bullard and Megan Goodwin will be competing as individuals.
The 16-team field includes Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas State, Baylor, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska, North Texas, Oklahoma City University, Oral Roberts University, Redlands Community College, SMU, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas Tech, Tulsa and UTEP. Missouri and Tulsa, ranked 17th and 23rd, are the only two ranked teams in the tournament.
“We're very excited to play at home, since it only happens once a year,” said head coach Carol Ludvigson. “Coming off of last week, I know we're getting closer to reaching our full potential. We want to continue that momentum, and we're looking for team and individual wins.”
The two-day event will be formatted with 36 holes on Sunday and 18 holes on Monday. Both days will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
SOONERS TAKE FOURTH AT TAPATIO SPRINGS
The Oklahoma women's golf team finished in fourth place after shooting a 931 at the Baylor-Tapatio Springs Intercollegiate Shootout in Boerne, Texas, on March 24-26.
Leading the Sooners was freshman Heather Wright, who earned a career best fourth place finish with a tournament total of 225. In the second round of the tournament, Wright fired a career-low 71.
Senior Emily Milberger and freshman Kelly Jacques also finished in the top 20. Milberger fired a 228, putting her in a tie for 11th, while Jacques tied for 19th with a 234.
Sophomore Jaclyn Stelzer, who went into the third round in a tie for 53rd, moved up into a tie for 49th and finished with a 245. Rounding out the scoring for the team was junior Amparo Gala, who shot a 254 and tied for 74th.

Kelly Jacques: Shot a 230 to tie for 28th at the Lady Northern Invitational ... Tied for 28th with a 224 at the Mason Rudolph Championships ... Fired a 223 to tie for 14th at the Kent Youel Invitational.
Emily Milberger: Finished in the top 20 in five tournaments this season ... Tied for 17th with a score of 227 at the Lady Northern Invitational ... Finished with a 148 to tie for sixth at the Jeannine McHaney Invitational ... Scored a 217 to tie for fifth at the Kent Youel Invitational.
Jaclyn Stelzer: Placed 55th at the Lady Northern Invitational with a 239 ... Tied for 58th at the Jeannine McHaney Invitational with a 157 (+13) ... Finished in a tie for 70th with a 233 (+17) at the Mason Rudolph Championships.
Heather Wright: Tied for 52nd with a 238 at the Lady Northern Invitational ... Tied for 36th at the Jeannine McHaney Invitational with a 154 ... Tied for 51st at the Kent Youel Invitational ... Earned a career-best fourth place and fired a career-low 71 at the Baylor-Tapatio Springs Intercollegiate Shootout.
