PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Former Sooner All-American Michael Blackwood ran the opening leg of Jamaica's 4 x 400-meter relay as Jamaica edged USA Blue in the USA vs. the World division at the 111th Penn Relays Saturday.

Blackwood, a 2000 and 2004 Olympian for Jamaica, had his relay in third place at the end of his 400 meters. Sanjay Ayre ran the second leg for Jamaica and Jermaine Gonzales got Jamaica into the lead on the third leg. Davian Clarked anchored the Jamaican team to the win. Jamaica finished with a 3:02.64 as Blackwood opened with a 45.7 split.

The USA Blue team finished with second with a 3:03.08 and the USA Red team, in second at the time, saw its chances slip away when its second leg tripped, fell to the track and lost the baton.

Current OU co-head coach Rodney Price coached Clarke while the pair was at the University of Miami and he has coached Blackwood since Blackwood arrived at OU in 1999. Blackwood has continued to train with Price in Norman since his graduation from OU.
