ESPN2 to Replay Gymnastics Championship

NORMAN, Okla.   The University of Oklahoma men's gymnastics team and its run for a sixth NCAA title will air on ESPN2, Cox channel 28, on Wednesday, April 13 at 4 p.m. (CST) as a tape-delay.

OU took the 2005 team title with the NCAA's second highest score under the current scoring system, a 225.675.

After a qualifying session in which OU finished second behind Illinois with a 223.55, the Sooners came back in the finals to win their sixth team title and their third in four years by narrowly defeating rival Ohio State (225.45).
 
The Sooners finished the 2005 season 21-2 and of their 13 All-Americans named, nine return next season.  Among those are Taqiy Abdullah-Simmons (Parallel Bars and All-Around), Jamie Henderson (still rings), Jonathan Horton (All-Around, floor exercise, vault, still rings and high bar) and Jacob Messina (floor exercise).

In six years at OU, head coach Mark Williams has won three NCAA titles, finished twice on two occasions and fourth in his first year.  He currently owns a record of 138-13 (.914 winning percentage).
