Women's Golf in Third Place After Round One

NORMAN, Okla. The Oklahoma women's golf team fired an 18-over-par 306 to finish third in the first round of the Baylor-Tapatio Springs Intercollegiate Shootout in Boerne, Texas, on Thursday. Baylor took the top spot after firing a 295 (+7).

Three Sooners finished in the top 20 after the first round. Senior Emily Milberger, who is coming off a strong finish at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational earlier this month, carded a 73 (+1) and is tied for third. Freshman Heather Wright trails Milberger by one stroke and is in a tie for sixth. Also in the top 20 is freshman Kelly Jacques, who shot a four-over-par 76 and is tied for 11th.

After recording an 83 (+11), junior Amparo Gala is tied for 48th. Rounding out the scoring for the Sooners is sophomore Jaclyn Stelzer, who is tied for 57th after carding an 84 (+12).

The Sooners are playing at the 6,007-yard, par-72 Tapatio Springs Golf Resort. Tee time for the second round is set for Friday at 7:30 a.m. CST.
