NORMAN, Okla.   The University of Oklahoma men's gymnastics team is ranked No. 2 in the nation as released by the latest GymInfo national poll on Tuesday.  The Sooners, who were previously third, switched places with Illinois after defeating No. 7 Iowa 223.575-219.025 on, last Saturday in Norman, Okla. 
 
The win closed out OU's regular season with the Sooners finishing 8-1, after being tabbed as the nation's top team in the country in the pre-season coaches' poll.

“We're definitely moving in the right direction and we are in a good position going into conference,” said OU head coach Mark Williams.  “Our objective is to finish at the top in the rankings so we can have more control in what session we're in and what event we start on at the NCAA Championships.”

The Iowa win gave OU its 34th straight home win and fifth straight season with an undefeated home record.  The last time the Sooners lost in Norman was Jan. 28, 2000 to Ohio State. 

Next up for the Sooners is the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship, which will be hosted by Oklahoma inside the Lloyd Noble Center.  The team competition, featuring OU, Air Force, California, Nebraska and Stanford, will begin Friday, March 25 at 7 p.m. and will be followed by the individual competition on Saturday, March 26 at 1 p.m.  Tickets for the event are available through the OU ticket office.  Fans can order tickets online at www.soonersports.com or by calling (800) 325-2424.
