Softball Crushes Fourth Straight Team

NORMAN, Okla. -- The No. 13 Oklahoma softball team (9-4) cruised to an 8-0 run rule (five innings) win over Lipscomb (3-3) on Sunday afternoon at the OU/Nike Classic. The Sooners have won seven straight games and run ruled four consecutive opponents.

Senior hurler Kami Keiter (3-1) extended her scoreless innings streak to 23 with her second shutout of the weekend. The lefty allowed four hits while walking one and striking out one in route to her third win of the season. Over her last 23 innings of work Keiter has allowed just nine hits and struck out 20 batters.

Keiter (1-for-2) did plenty of damage at the plate as well. She began the offensive onslaught with a solo home run in the second inning.

Fellow senior Christina Enea (1-for-3) got in on the fun in the second inning with a RBI on a fielder's choice. The next senior to step up was Jessica Leslie (1-for-3), who doubled in two runs. Leslie is hitting .545 with two home runs and seven RBI in four OU/Nike Classic games.

A Lipscomb throwing error pushed OU's lead to 5-0 before the second frame concluded. Norrelle Dickson (2-for-4) upped the lead to six with a run-scoring single in the third inning.

Junior Kristin Vesely (3-for-4) ended the game with a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth. The pair of RBI upped Vesely's team leading total to 12.

The Sooners have outscored their opponents by a combined total of 61-5 during their current seven game win streak. The pitching staff has a combined ERA of 0.88 during that stretch.

OU completes OU/Nike Classic action at 4:45 when they face North Texas. The Sooners will finish off their current homestand on Tuesday when Oklahoma City University comes to Norman for a 3 p.m. game at the OU Softball Complex.
