Poll Consensus, Oklahoma at No. 25

Poll Consensus, Oklahoma at No. 25

November 08, 2005 | Women's Basketball

NORMAN, Okla. -- The media and coaches are thinking alike as both have ranked the Oklahoma women's basketball team at No. 25 in their respective polls. The Associated Press announced its poll on Tuesday and the Sooners standing mirrored the preseason USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll, which was released on Nov. 2.

Two other notes held true with the announcement of the second major poll.  OU is one of four Big 12 teams in both polls. Additionally the Sooners have five teams on their 2005-06 schedule that appear in the preseason polls and all of them (Ohio State, Baylor, Michigan State, Texas and Texas Tech) appear in the top 13 of each poll.

OU completed the exhibition season with a 107-44 victory over Oklahoma Christian on Nov. 3. The Sooners were led by twin freshman sisters Courtney (23 points, 18 rebounds) and Ashley Paris (20 points, 23 rebounds), who combined for 43 points and 41 rebounds.  Preseason All-Big 12er Leah Rush also contributed 15 points in the decisive win.

The Sooners will begin the regular season with Wisconsin Milwaukee in the Preseason WNIT on Friday at 7 p.m.  Adult tickets for the home opener are $10 for reserved and $8 for general admission.  Children are $5, while infants and OU students with valid ID will be admitted free.
