LAS VEGAS, Nev. The Oklahoma men's tennis team has concluded its fall season at the UNLV Fall Classic in Las Vegas, Nev. On Saturday, senior Lee Gregg was eliminated in the singles semifinals, while senior Tommy Garrison fell in the doubles quarterfinals. Garrison and true freshman Cale Planck were more successful in singles consolation play, as they picked up wins on Saturday and Sunday.

Gregg faced Charles Irie of Fresno State and suffered a disappointing, 6-3, 2-6, 7-6, loss. Garrison, who paired with Alabama's Andrew Felsenthal for doubles competition, dropped an 8-6 decision to UNLV's Romain Massaro and Wes Burrows.

In singles consolation action on Saturday, Garrison defeated UNLV's Romain Massaro, 6-2, 6-2, while true freshman Cale Planck downed Tennessee's Rawl Martin, 6-2, 6-4. Garrison went on to defeat Jonathan Hooper of UNLV, 7-5, 3-6, 1-0(10-3), on Sunday.

The tournament capped off a successful fall campaign for the Sooners. Senior Alexei Ivanov and junior Marek Velicka, who had not paired up until this fall, won the central region doubles title and advanced all the way to quarterfinals at the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships. Five players, including Ivanov, Velicka, Garrison, senior Matt Long and sophomore Federico Chavarria, were invited to compete in the prestigious Polo Ralph Lauren Men's All-American Tennis Championships.

The Sooners will return to action Jan. 21, 2006, at the ITA Regional Team Playoff, which is their first competition of the spring season.
