NORMAN, Okla. - Playing its final match of the regular season, the Oklahoma volleyball team faces its second ranked opponent of the week in No. 25 Kansas State at 2 p.m. this Saturday in Manhattan, Kan.
OU/KANSAS STATE PREVIEW
The Wildcats enter the contest with a 19-10 overall record and a 10-9 mark in Big 12 play, where they are currently sitting at fourth place in the Big 12 standings. In addition, they arrive with momentum after sweeping the Baylor Bears last Wednesday.
KSU has been on a sporadic run the last seven matches, winning every other match in the last seven played. During that span, the Wildcats have dropped matches to Kansas, Texas A&M and No. 1 Nebraska while garnering wins over Iowa State, Texas Tech, then-No. 24 Colorado and Baylor.

Oklahoma hits the road for its final match of the season with a 7-21 overall mark and a 2-17 record in league play. However, the Sooners have shown much improvement during the final weeks of the season. OU wrapped up its second Big 12 win of the season against Baylor last Saturday and played a close three-game match to the No. 11 Texas Longhorns this past Saturday on Senior Night in Norman.
Ironically, K-State and Oklahoma met in each squad's first Big 12 appearance of the year and will meet again in the final Big 12 match for both teams this season.
In that first meeting, Kansas State outplayed the Sooners offensively and swept (30-22, 30-28, 30-26) the Sooners in Norman. Oklahoma struggled offensively, recording a .064 clip to KSU's .265. Defensively, the Wildcats tallied 12 blocks to OU's six, but Oklahoma edged Kansas State in digs, 30-29.
OU junior Eliane Santos was the lone Sooner to tally double-digit kills while K-State's Sandy Werner and Rita Lilliom each recorded 10 kills.
The Wildcats rank in the middle of the pack in every statistical category in the Big 12, but remain one of the toughest teams in the conference, especially when playing at home. KSU has suffered five losses at home with four of them coming against top-25 teams.
Senior right side hitter Agata Rezende leads Kansas State in kills (3.76) while owning a .285 hitting percentage (second on team). Adding additional offensive presence are Werner and Hamlin who are each recording 3.45 and 2.29 KPG, respectively.
Defensively, last year's Big 12 Libero of the Year Angie Lastro leads the way with 4.06 digs per game (third in the Big 12).
Making her presence at the net known is Hamlin who leads the squad with 1.42 blocks per game while Megan Kroeker is contributing 1.23 BPG for the Wildcats.

The Sooners own a large advantage over the Wildcats in the schools' all-time series. OU leads 40-22-1 and 14-10 in matches played in Manhattan, Kan. However, Kansas State has the won the last 13 straight matches played.
LAST TIME OUT VS. THE WILDCATS
Oklahoma opened the Big 12 season against then-No. 22 Kansas State at home on Sept. 14. The match did not turn in the Sooners favor as the Wildcats swept the Sooners, 30-22, 30-28, 30-26 in Norman.

With the middle blockers' efforts, the squad also set a team block assist mark with 42 block assists in the match.
OFFENSIVE COMPARISON
Since the arrival of head coach Santiago Restrepo last season, the Oklahoma statistics continue to improve. In 2004, OU improved in every major statistical category. The same can be said in 2005. Through 27 matches of the 29-match season, Oklahoma has made improvements in every offensive category. Below is a comparison of the 2004 season stats with OU's numbers so far this season:
