Amparo Gala | Senior | Women's Golf
Gala, a native of Valencia, Spain, is the lone senior on the Oklahoma squad.
Golf plays a fall and spring schedule with the fall season beginning in September and concluding in early November. OU returns to action for the spring portion of its schedule on February 24 at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in San Juan.

Why did you choose the University of Oklahoma to play golf?
"In Spain, it is really hard to go to college and have a sport too. I started looking at OU and this place was just really great. I had a friend studying at OU and she said it was really nice. I didn't know what was going on when I got here. It looked nice on the Internet.
"I didn't know what I was getting myself into until I actually got here. I was a little scared at first. But now, I like it and people are really nice."
What is it like being the only senior leader on the team?
"I feel like I have to be the role model. I want to make sure I'm doing the right thing. I'm practicing and standing up, making sure they know what they should be doing too."
What are your plans after graduation?
"I want to go to grad school here at OU. I want to get my masters and find a job or go home to Spain. My major is bio-chemistry, so I want to do go into the medial field or with pharmacy. I don't want to go to medical or pharmacy school. I want to get my masters and find a job. I don't want to study for so long. I get bored."
Why did you choose to play golf?
"I started because of my dad mainly. I was about ten years old and I could hit the ball straight. I thought I was doing well, so I got myself into it. I played a lot with my dad because no one plays golf in my family."
What is your favorite golf course you have ever played on?
"Valderrama Golf Course in San Roque, Spain. The American Express Tournament was played there. It is a very pretty, but hard course in southwest Spain."
Do you prefer fall or spring golf season?
"Spring. It is really hectic, but I like it."
What do you like to do in your free time?
"I like to go out dancing or to the movies."
What is your favorite American food?
"Peanut butter. I got myself into peanut butter. I didn't eat peanut butter in Spain, but I really like it now."
