NORMAN, Okla. -- Young Sooner fans and their families greeted the OU football team inside the Barry Switzer Center following Monday evening's practice. Players met with the children, signed autographs and helped distribute food in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Josh Heupel's 14 Foundation and the University of Oklahoma football team are again sponsoring their annual Holiday Food Drive. The drive coincides with the Bedlam game against OSU on Saturday at Owen Field.
Sooner fans are encouraged to make a contribution of $1 in lieu of a food donation this year. Volunteers will be accepting donations from fans outside the stadium gates. Those interested in contributing, but unable to attend the game, can mail donations to FCA, Box 1613, Norman, OK, 73070.
Started in 2000 by OU quarterback Josh Heupel, the drive has fed more than 1,500 Oklahoma families. Each year, OU players and coaches help distribute the food.
The Sooners meet Oklahoma State on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the 100th edition of the Bedlam Game presented by the Bank of Oklahoma and Oklahoma Ford Dealers. Check Sooner Gameday Central for complete broadcast options, information for fans attending the game in Norman and team comparisons.
