Price's Give 'em Five Intercollegiate

Dye Headed for Top 20 at Price's "Give 'em Five"

NORMAN, Okla. Freshman Kendall Dye is leading the OU women's golf team in a tie for 19th while the team is in 20th place overall after the first two rounds of play Monday at Price's “Give em Five” Intercollegiate in Las Cruces, N.M.
Dye is competing in her third collegiate tournament and is holding a two-round score of 150 (+6) after shooting 75 (+3) twice. The team is carding a 631 (+55) and is currently 40 strokes behind overall leader University of New Mexico.
Sophomore Heather Wright matched her season-low 77 (+5) in the first round and shot an 82 (+10) in the second to put her in 70th place. With a 160 (+16), junior Jaclyn Stelzer is in 76th place with a 78 (+6) and 82 (+10) in the the first two rounds. Sophomore Kelly Jacques posted a 163 (+19) and is tied for 91st. Jacques shot an 80 (+8) in round one and an 83 (+11) in round two. Amparo Gala, the only senior on the team, carded an 84 (+12) and an 82 (+10) for a two-round total of 166 (+22). Gala is competing in her first tournament of the season.
“We are really proud of Kendall, our freshman. She is doing great,” said OU Head Coach Carol Ludvigson. “As a team we really had trouble managing the greens but we practiced different shots and putting tonight. Tomorrow our goal is to shoot under 300.”
The 21-team field includes University of New Mexico (ranked No. 15), Baylor (21), Denver (29), Long Beach State (30), Missouri (41) and New Mexico State University (46).
Golfers are playing the 6,319-yard, par-72 New Mexico State University Golf Course. The final round will begin Tuesday morning.
