Dye Leads The Way at Price's Give 'em Five

LAS CRUCES, N.M. The Oklahoma women's golf team finished the Price's Give em Five Intercollegiate in Las Cruces, N.M., Tuesday in 20th place with a final score of 941 (+77). The Sooners shot a 310 in the final round and finished 50 strokes behind first-place Missouri.
True freshman Kendall Dye led the way for the Sooners but fell from being tied in 19th place to finishing tied in 33rd place after a third-round 79 (+7). Her total score was 229 (+13). Sophomore Heather Wright moved up from a tie at 70th to a tie at 63rd place with at 236 (+20) after shooting a 77 (+5) in the third round. Sophomore Kelly Jacques also improved in the third round with a 75 (+3), giving her a total score of 238 (+22) and a tie for 79th place. Junior Jaclyn Stelzer posted a 79 (+7) in the third round and tied for 81st place with a total of 239 (+23). Amparo Gala, who was competing in her first tournament of the season, carded a three-round 256 (+40).
Oklahoma was one of five Big 12 teams making up the 21-team field. Missouri won the tournament with a 891 (+27), Baylor finished 11th after shooting a 921 (+57), Texas Tech carded a 934 (+70) for a 15th place finish and Colorado posted a 940 (+76) to finish 19th.
The Sooners will complete their fall competition at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, scheduled for Oct. 31-Nov. 2.
