NORMAN, Okla. -- Two Oklahoma football players will have surgery Monday to repair shoulder injuries. OU trainer Scott Anderson said that running back Adrian Peterson and cornerback Marcus Walker will have the procedure done and will miss the upcoming spring practices.
“It's a common surgery in football and a number of players have had the procedure done and returned to perform at a very high level,” Anderson said. “The expectation is that both of them will be ready for next season.”
Peterson will have work done on his left shoulder, while Walker's operation will be on the right.
Peterson was sidelined for part of the 2004 preseason drills with a shoulder injury. He recovered to set an OU and NCAA freshman rushing record with 1,925 yards. He was second in the Heisman balloting, the highest finish ever for a freshman.

Walker, also a freshman, was redshirted until the ninth game of the season when he played against Texas A&M. He then started the final two regular season games and both post-season contests.
