Sooners to 'Give 'em' Five in New Mexico

Sooners Head to Texas for Jeannine McHaney Invitational

NORMAN, Okla. - The 15th-ranked University of Oklahoma women's golf team will compete at the Jeannine McHaney Invitational on Sept. 24-26 in Lubbock, Texas.  The tournament, hosted by Texas Tech University, will be played at the 6,234-yard, par-72 Rawls Course.

The three-day event will be formatted with 18 holes on each day.  The first rounds will begin at 8 a.m. Competing for the Sooners will be Amparo Gala, Kelly Jacques, Emily Milberger, Jaclyn Stelzer and Heather Wright. Sophomore Alana Donaldson will be competing as an individual.

The 18-team field will consist of Arkansas, Arkansas State, Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico State University, Notre Dame, Oklahoma (22), Oral Roberts, Sam Houston State, SMU, TCU, Texas Tech, Tulsa (23) and Xavier.


Oklahoma Finishes Seventh at Lady Northern
Playing in its first tournament of the season, the University of Oklahoma women's golf team finished in seventh place at the Lady Northern Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich., on Sunday. The Sooners recorded a 314 (+26) in the final round to finish with an overall score of 920 (+56), 39 strokes behind tournament champion Michigan.

Leading the way for OU was junior Amparo Gala who tied for 11th with a 226.  Senior Emily Milberger tied for 17th place with a score of 227 while freshman Kelly Jacques shot a 230 and tied for 28th.  Freshman Heather Wright posted a score of 238 to tie for 52th and sophomore Jaclyn Stelzer finished 55th with 239 total strokes. Sophomore Megan Goodwin tied for 91st with a score of 258.


The Oklahoma Lineup
Alana Donaldson:  Tied for 54th at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic ... Registered career-bests in the SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational where she tied for 49th with a 239. 

Amparo Gala:  Recorded seven top-25 finishes ... Recorded a 230 (+14) to tie for 13th at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic ... Led all Sooners at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Classic and tied for 15th with a 237.   

Kelly Jacques:  Competing in her first collegiate tournament ... An All-State selection four consecutive years in high school ... 2001 and 2003 U.S. Girls Qualifier.

Emily Milberger:  Tied for 25th at 2004 Big 12 Championships ... Tied for 13th with a 230 at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic ... Shot a career-best 221 and tied for ninth at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic ... Recorded a 229 and tied for 11th at the Lady Northern Intercollegiate.

Jaclyn Stelzer:  Posted a career-best finish at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic where she tied for 37th ... Tied for 100th at her first NCAA Central Regional ... Tied for 39th at the 2004 Big 12 Championships.

Heather Wright:  Competing in her first collegiate tournament ... Named a 2003 AJGA Junior All-American ... Won the 2003 AJGA tournament in Rome, Ga.
