NORMAN, Okla. -- OU fans descended in droves on Norman Monday morning to meet and greet the 2004 Sooners on the practice fields located just south of Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. The Sooner Kids' Club members got an early start on the autograph lines with the general public following 30 minutes later.
Players lined up by position groups under tents as fans formed lines that snaked across the practice fields. OU officials estimated the crowd to be between 15,000-20,000.
"The enthusiasm of Sooner fans is incredible," said OU Athletics Director of Marketing Matt Roberts. "This is a great way to kick off the 2004 season. The weather was a little cooler than last year. We appreciated everyone's patience and support."
