Oklahoma Begins Preseason Practice

NORMAN, Okla. -- The Oklahoma football team began preseason practices in advance of the 2004 season Monday evening at the Rugby Fields on the Norman campus. Earlier in the day, the team took individual and team photos at Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.

The first workout lasted for nearly three hours as the coaching staff put the team through a variety of drills, including some seven on seven. Contact was at a minimum as the team is yet to practice in pads.

"It was great, outstanding," said OU head coach Bob Stoops. "I couldn't be more pleased with it. Everyone was very pleased with the way it went."

The Sooners will be back at practice at 5:30 p.m., for the remainder of the week. All of the workouts are open to the public.

Earlier in the day, the players and coaches greeted OU fans at the annual Meet the Sooners Day held on the practice fields south of the stadium.

This year's preseason practices will take place at the Rugby Fields located west of the Lloyd Noble Center. This is a change from previous years when the team worked out at the Intramural Fields on Stinson St.

2004 Football Preseason Central

All practices (prior to the first game week) are open unless otherwise announced. At the present time, three scrimmages are scheduled for Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.

Fans planning to attend the Rugby Field workouts should park in the lot west of the Lloyd Noble Center. Parking will not be permitted on Blankenship Drive, which connects Chautauqua with the LNC.
