Oklahoma Ranked No. 2 In Preseason AP Poll

NORMAN, Okla. -- The Oklahoma Sooners were ranked No. 2 in the preseason Associated Press poll released Saturday. OU, 12-2 last season, received 1,529 votes including 11 for first place.
 
USC holds down the No. 1 slot with Georgia, LSU, Florida State and Miami rounding out the top five.

Fellow Big 12 members Texas (No. 7), Kansas State (No. 12) and Missouri (No. 18) were also ranked. Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Texas A&M received votes.
 
"That's fine," said Bob Stoops on the preseason ranking. "We all get to go compete for it now and that's what matters."
 
OU was also ranked No. 2 in the preseason ESPN/USA Today Coaches' Poll released on July 30.

Oklahoma, in the middle of preseason practice, will hold the first of its three preseason scrimmages on Sunday at Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.  The starting time is tentatively set for 5:30 p.m., although that is subject to slight adjustment.
