Media Tabs OU to Win Big 12 South

Oklahoma was picked to win the Big 12 South in football and nine Sooner players were picked for preseason conference honors when the results of media polling were announced Friday. The 12 league schools will meet with media in Kansas City July 20-22 as the 2004 season draws nearer. OU players report to campus Aug. 8, with the first practice slated for the following day.

Oklahoma players honored on the first team include OT Jammal Brown, WR Mark Clayton, C Vince Carter and QB Jason White on offense, and DE Dan Cody, DT Dusty Dvoracek, SS Donte Nicholson and CB Antonio Perkins on defense. K Trey DiCarlo made the team as a special teams entrant.

OU's true freshman running back Adrian Peterson was named the conference's preseason newcomer of the year.
