Womens Golf 16th Heading Into Final Round

After second-round NCAA Central Regional action, the Oklahoma women's golf team is sitting in 16th place with a 632 (+64). The fifth-seeded Sooners shot a second-round 321 (+37) at the 6,500-yard, par-71 University Golf Course in Normal, Ill. Vanderbilt, the No. 1 seed, and sixth-seeded Michigan State are tied for first place with a two-round 605 (+23).

Leading the Sooners were senior Lisa Meldrum and sophomore Amparo Gala who are tied for 28th. They each carded a second-round 79 (+8) and have an individual total of 155 (+13). Also recording a second-round 79 (+8) was senior Hope Edge who is tied for 44th with a 157 (+15). Junior Emily Milberger is tied for 90th after shooting an 84 (+13) for a two-round total of 165 (+23). Rounding out the Sooner quintet is freshman Jaclyn Stelzer who is in 106th place after shooting a second-round 87 (+16) for 172 (+30) total strokes.

The final 18 holes will be played Saturday. The top eight teams qualify to play at the NCAA Championships, May 18-21 in Opelika, Ala.
