No. 1 Sooners Prepare For Scrimmage

Four Sooners Honored On MPSF All-Academic Team

NORMAN, Okla. -- University of Oklahoma men's gymnasts Josh Gore, Mike Gehart, Heath Mueller and James Myers were honored  by the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation for their spots on the conference all-academic team.  Gore earned first team honors earlier in the week for the 2004 CoSIDA District VI at-large academic team on Thursday.
 
Gore, a junior from Pflugerville, Texas, is studying Zoology. In gymnastics competition, Gore collected All-America honors on the parallel bars with a third place finish during the event finals at the 2004 NCAA Championships.  

Joining Gore from the Sooners' national runner up squad were Heath Mueller, who will be competing at the U.S. Championships next week and Michael Gehart and James Myers.  Mueller graduated from OU with a degree in finance.  Gehart is majoring in health and sport science while Myers is a pre-med major.
 
The student-athletes were nominated for this award by their institutions on the basis of the following criteria:
1. 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.

2. Student-athlete must have completed one full academic year at the member institution prior to the season for which the award is being received and must be at least a sophomore academically.

3. Student-athlete must have competed in fifty percent or more of the institution's competition in the student-athlete's respective sport.
