The OU women's basketball team departed for a 12-day tour of Europe on Sunday morning. The Sooners flew from Oklahoma City, through Cincinnati and New York before finally landing in Nice, France.
The City of Nice (pronounced "niece") is located on the Mediterranean Sea in the extreme southeastern corner of France.
The following is a journal entry from guard Kendra Moore. The freshman from Ardmore, Okla., describes the long flight and the team's first impressions of Europe.

We began our exciting journey to Europe on Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. It started with a two hour flight from Oklahoma City to Cincinnati and then another hour and a half to New York.
Our flight from New York to Nice, France, felt like an eternity. The plane ride alone took eight hours -- it was the longest flight of my life. Not only did we get the usual snack and drinks but we were served dinner and breakfast plus watched a movie!

One can only imagine how much longer the flight would have felt without those distractions. We made it safely Monday morning to Nice with our swollen ankles and stiff legs. That will be a plane ride I will never forget.
After we had arrived, we were taken on a bus tour of Nice to get accustomed to where we were going to be staying. We saw many statues of people who were contributed to the history of Nice and many buildings that were very important to the culture here.
We were also shown Elton John's house. It looked out over the sea and the city of Nice.
When our bus tour was over, we checked into our hotel, got situated, and then began our own sightseeing of Nice. A couple of us ate our first meal in Europe. We saw a McDonalds (and thought about eating there) but who comes from the USA all the way to Europe to eat McDonalds?
Instead we ate at a place called The Temple where the food was actually really good. After lunch we did a little shopping -- but considering the custom here is to shutdown for a two hour lunch -- a lot of the shops were closed.
The shops here are very similar to those in the States but more expensive. I am a big shoe fan and the shoe styles here fit me perfect. I just may have to take a pair of shoes home as a souvenir to myself.
As the day came to an end, we all ate dinner together and called it a "Two Days" because Sunday and Monday felt like one day to us with the time difference.
I'm looking forward to the rest of our tour of Europe and actually playing games over here.
