Womens Golf Tied For Ninth After First Round

The 13th-ranked Oklahoma women's golf team recorded a first-round 312 (+32) and is currently tied for ninth with Florida State at the SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. The 15-team field is playing at the 5,773-yard, par-70 University of Florida Golf Course. Leading the field is No. 1 Duke with a 292 (+12). The tournament features nine teams ranked in the top-25 and includes seven of the top-10 individual golfers in the country.
Leading the way for the Sooners is senior Lisa Meldrum who shot a 76 (+6) and is tied for 16th heading into the second round. Meldrum trails the leader, Allison Fouch (Michigan State), by seven strokes. Junior Emily Milberger is tied for 25th after carding a first-round 77 (+7). Freshman Alana Donaldson and senior Hope Edge recorded a 78 (+8) and are tied for 35th. Donaldson, playing in her second career tournament, is competing as an individual for the Sooners. Sophomore Amaparo Gala, February Big 12 Golfer of the Month, carded a first-round 81 (+11) and is tied with sophomore Cathryn Uselton for 57th.
Oklahoma will play 18 holes Monday and conclude the tournament on Tuesday. Fans can access live stats through www.golfstat.com.
