NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma completed a perfect regular season for the second consecutive year, won the 2004 Big 12 Championship with a 42-3 victory against Colorado and will battle No. 1 Southern Cal in the FedEx Orange Bowl in the BCS National Championship Game on Jan. 4, 2005.
In addition to the team accomplishments, several Sooners won individual awards and were selected to All-America and All-Conference teams.
On December 1, quarterback Jason White won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, which is presented to the nation's top senior quarterback. He was chosen from a list of finalists that included Auburn's Jason Campbell, Hawaii's Timmy Chang, Akron's Charlie Frye, Georgia's David Greene, Louisville's Stefan LeFors, Connecticut's Dan Orlovsky, Purdue's Kyle Orton and Arizona State's Andrew Walter.

White was OU's first recipient of the Unitas Award which is named after former Baltimore Colts great Johnny Unitas. He accepted the award in Louisville on Dec. 10.
White also won the Davey O'Brien Quarterback Trophy for the second consecutive season and the Maxwell Award as college football's best all-around player. The awards were announced on the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show on Dec. 10.
White and freshman running back Adrian Peterson were two of five finalists for the Heisman Trophy. Peterson finished second in the voting -- the highest finish ever for a freshman. He was also the first-ever freshman finalist for the Doak Walker Award. Peterson was selected as Freshman of the Year by The Sporting News.
Offensive tackle Jammal Brown became the fifth Oklahoma Sooner to win the Outland Trophy and the first since Greg Roberts in 1978. The Outland Trophy has been awarded annually by the Football Writers Association of America since 1946 and goes to the best interior lineman in the country on offense or defense. The other two 2004 Outland finalists were Michigan guard/center David Baas and Florida State offensive tackle Alex Barron.
Brown and Adrian Peterson were first team selections in all five NCAA-recognized All-America teams including the AP, Walter Camp, Football Writers, Football Coaches and Sporting News.

OU finished with five total All-Americans including Dan Cody on the FWAA team, Mark Clayton on the AFCA team and Vince Carter on the Walter Camp team. Oklahoma has had 143 All-America honors in the program's history with 21 coming under head coach Bob Stoops.
The Sooners dominated the Associated Press All-Big 12 Conference Team by snagging nine slots for the second straight year. Offensive player of the year Jason White was a unanimous pick at quarterback as was offensive newcomer of the year Adrian Peterson at running back.
Defensive lineman Dan Cody was another OU player listed on all 20 ballots sportswriters who regularly cover the league for newspapers throughout the league's seven states. Jammal Brown, Vince Carter, Mark Clayton, Jonathan Jackson, Lance Mitchell and Brodney Pool rounded out the selections.
Davin Joseph and Rufus Alexander were second team selections while Wes Sims, Mark Bradley, Travis Wilson, Antonio Perkins, Larry Birdine, Lynn McGruder and Donte Nicholson earned honorable mention.
Jason White and tailback Adrian Peterson earned player of the year honors as selected by the Big 12 coaches. White became the second player in league history to win Offensive Player of the Year in back-to-back seasons while Peterson became the first player in Big 12 history to win Offensive Freshman and Newcomer of the Year in the same season.
White and Peterson were two of eight Sooners named to the coaches' All-Big 12 First Team. Mark Clayton, Jammal Brown and Vince Carter joined the two on offense. For the defense, Dan Cody, Lance Mitchell and Donte Nicholson earned first team honors. Davin Joseph, Jonathan Jackson and Brodney Pool earned second team honors. Honorable Mention included Rufus Alexander, Mark Bradley, Blake Ferguson, Lynn McGruder and Travis Wilson.
Sooners were recognized by several other prominent All-America teams. ESPN.com selected Jammal Brown and Vince Carter while CBS SportsLine honored Brown and Adrian Peterson.
Sports Illustrated selected Brown and Adrian Peterson on the first team with Jason White, Mark Clayton, Vince Carter and Lance Mitchell as honorable mention.
Fox Sports and CollegeFootballNews.com selected Adrian Peterson and Jammal Brown as All-Americans while naming the pair plus Jason White, Mark Clayton, Vince Carter, Dan Cody, Jonathan Jackson, Donte Nicholson and Brodney Pool as first team All-Big 12.
