Eight Sooners on All-Big 12 First Team

DALLAS - Oklahoma quarterback Jason White and tailback Adrian Peterson earned player of the year honors as selected by the Big 12 coaches the conference office announced Wednesday.
 
White became the second player in league history to win Offensive Player of the Year in back-to-back seasons (Ricky Williams, UT, 1997-98). Nebraska's Eric Crouch also won the award twice, in 1999 and 2001. Adrian Peterson became the first player in Big 12 history to win Offensive Freshman and Newcomer of the Year in the same season. 
 
White and Peterson were two of eight Sooners named to the All-Big 12 First Team. WR Mark Clayton, OT Jammal Brown and C Vince Carter joined the two on offense. For the defense, DE Dan Cody, LB Lance Mitchell and DB Donte Nicholson earned first team honors.

OG Davin Joseph, DE Jonathan Jackson and  DB Brodney Pool earned second team honors. Honorable Mention included LB Rufus Alexander, WR Mark Bradley, P Blake Ferguson, DL Lynn McGruder and WR Travis Wilson.
