NORMAN, Okla. Recap the most recent NFL action and read about former Sooners' performances on the Sunday stage in this week's report.

Are You Ready for Some Football?

The Green Bay Packers host the St. Louis Rams in a matchup of explosive offenses.

 

Brett Favre will make his 200th consecutive start as the Packers' quarterback extending his own record. The next highest total of consecutive starts for a quarterback in the NFL is 116.

 

Former OU linebacker Torrance Marshall (1999-2000) will likely serve his reserve role on special teams. Marshall suffered a slight hamstring pull in last week's contest an is listed as probable to play.

 

The kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. CST.

 

Indianapolis at Detroit

Peyton Manning threw six touchdown passes, leading the Indianapolis Colts to a 41-9 rout of the Detroit Lions.

 

Manning set an NFL record by throwing at least four TD passes in five-straight games and inched closer to Dan Marino's single-season record of 48 touchdown passes. Manning has 41.

 

Three former Sooners started for the Lions tight end Stephen Alexander (1994-97), right offensive tackle Stockar McDougle (1998-99) and linebacker Teddy Lehman (2000-03).

 

Alexander was one of Joey Harrington's favorite targets again this week, catching a season-high five passes for 58 yards, including a 30-yard strike at the 6:17 mark in the second quarter.

 

Lehman, who has started ever game in his rookie season, collected three tackles.

 

The Lions host the Arizona Cardinals next Sunday, Dec. 5.

 

Chicago at Dallas

Dallas head coach Bill Parcells bench his rookie quarterback, Drew Henson, and installed injured veteran Vinny Testaverde to end the Cowboys' three-game losing streak.

 

He made the right move.

 

Testaverde overcame a shaky start to quarterback the Cowboys to a 21-7 victory of the Chicago Bears.

 

Rookie running back Julius Jones had a career-game, running for 150 yards and two touchdowns.

 

Former Sooner Roy Williams (1999-2001) made two tackles and was part of a secondary that held the Bears' passing game to 15-of-31 for 132 yards and two interceptions.

 

Bears defensive tackle Tommie Harris (2001-03) had five tackles, including three for loss and one for no gain.

 

Dallas travels to Seattle to play the Seahawks next Monday night. Chicago host Minnesota on Sunday.

 

Chargers at Chiefs

The Drew Bress to Antonio Gates train ran at full steam for another week as the pair hooked up for more big plays again in San Diego's 34-31 win at Kansas City.

 

Gates caught seven passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns of 11 and 18 yards as he and Brees exploited the Chiefs' weak secondary.

 

Former OU defensive back William Bartee (1998-99) made six tackles and was credited with 0.5 sacks when he and teammate Scott Fujita tackled Brees on a third-and-10 late in the fourth quarter.

 

Jimmy Wilkerson (2000-02) came off the bench to make one tackle from his defensive end position.

 

Next Sunday, Kansas City travels to Oakland for their match with the Raiders.

 

Tennessee at Houston

David Carr threw for 201 yards and two touchdowns and Domanick Davis rushed for a season-high 129 yards and a score to rally the Houston Texans from an 18-point deficit in a 31-21 win against the Tennessee Titans.

 

Former OU All-American Rocky Calmus (1998-2001) started at linebacker for the second-straight week after returning from leg and back injuries. Calmus had five tackles.

 

Andre Woolfolk's (1999-2002) season ended Monday, Nov. 22, when doctors were unsuccessful in putting the defensive back's dislocated wrist back in place properly. Woolfolk underwent surgery and was placed on injured reserved by the Titans. He had 49 tackles and one interception this season.

 

The Titans next travel to Indianapolis to face the Colts.

 

Tampa Bay at Carolina

Tampa Bay's Martin Gramatica missed three crucial field goals as Carolina's Julius Peppers and Keary Colbert spurred the Panthers' 21-14 victory.

 

Peppers returned an interception 46 yards for a score and Colbert caught a 40-yard pass for the game winning touchdown.

 

Tampa Bay special teams star Corey Ivy (1995-97) downed one punt in today's contest.

 

The Buccaneers next play host to the Atlanta Falcons.

 

Miami at San Francisco

In a battle of 1-9 teams, Miami doubled its win total on the season with a 24-17 win against the San Francisco 49ers.

 

Randy McMichael caught a 15-yard touchdown pass with 10:35 to play, and the 49ers fumbled five times in the fourth quarter, leaving San Francisco as the NFL's only one-win team.

 

49ers' reserve linebacker Brandon Moore (1997-2001) made two tackles.

 

San Francisco meets the Rams in St. Louis next Sunday.

 

New York Jets at Arizona

Quincy Carter returned from a head injury early in the game to throw a 69-yard touchdown pass to Santana Moss as the New York Jets beat the Cardinals 13-3.

 

Derrick Strait (2000-03) returned to the field for the first time in seven weeks. The Jet cornerback was active last week but watched from the sidelines. Strait did not record any statistics in Sunday's game.

 

The Jets host the Houston Texans next Sunday.

 

Baltimore at New England

The Patriots defeated the Ravens 24-3, scoring on a fumble recovery and holding the Ravens to 124 yards of total offense.

 

Adam Vinatieri added three field goals, extending his streak to 21-in-a-row.

 

Kelly Gregg (1995-98) started on the Ravens' defensive line and logged five tackles.

 

The Balimore Ravens host the Cincinnati Bengals next Sunday.

 

Injury Bugged

Oakland Raider Travian Smith (1994-97) missed his seventh consecutive contest recuperating from a knee injury.

 

The Broncos placed the Quentin Griffin (1999-2002) on injured reserve Wednesday, Oct. 27, after suffering a torn right anterior cruciate ligament during the second-half kickoff of a 23-10 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Griffin rushed for 311 yards and two touchdowns in six games this season.

 

Former OU tight end Trent Smith (1999-2002) was placed on the injured reserve list by the Baltimore Ravens Aug. 31 and will miss his second consecutive season after, again, breaking his leg in a preseason game. Smith broke the leg in the Ravens' first preseason game versus the Atlanta Falcons.

 

New York Giants' and former OU defensive tackle Martin Chase (1994-97) was also placed on the IR with a knee injury and will sit out the 2004 season.
