NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma's Jason White and Adrian Peterson were each named finalists for two prominent college football awards, Tuesday.  The pair comprise two of the three finalists for the Maxwell Award, presented annually to the nation's top player, while White also is a finalist for the Davey O'Brien Award (top quarterback) and Peterson is a finalist for the Doak Walker Award (top running back).

White, the Sooner quarterback, won the O'Brien Award last season and was a finalist for the Maxwell.  Peterson is the first freshman ever to be considered for the Doak Walker.

The third Maxwell finalist is USC quarterback Matt Leinart.  He's also an O'Brien finalist along with Utah's Alex Smith.  The other Walker finalists are Cal's J.J. Arrington and Texas' Cedric Benson.
