Sooners Edge Closer to No. 1 in BCS

NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma narrowed the gap with No. 1 USC in the latest Bowl Championship Series rankings released Monday. The Sooners had a cumulative score of .9643 while the Trojans had a .9789 -- a difference of .0147. Last week, the difference was .0187.
The margin between No. 2 OU and No. 3 Auburn widened from .0271 a week ago to .0286 this week.
Oklahoma (11-0, 8-0 Big 12) is closer to USC in the rankings than Auburn is to OU.
Oklahoma improved to 11-0 overall and 8-0 in Big 12 Conference play with a 35-0 shutout of Baylor at Floyd Casey Stadium in Waco on Saturday. It marked the second consecutive season -- and third under Coach Stoops -- that OU has completed its regular season schedule without a blemish.

The Sooners clinched the South Division title for the fourth time in five years and will face either Colorado or Iowa State in the Big 12 Championship Game on Dec. 4 in Kansas City.
Auburn (11-0, 8-0 SEC) defeated rival Alabama in the Iron Bowl game in Tuscaloosa, 21-13. The victory marked AU's third consecutive over the Crimson Tide. The Tigers play Tennessee in the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta on Dec. 4.
