SoonerSports.com will provide regular updates on former OU football players who are now representing the crimson and cream in the pros. This weekly feature will recur throughout the season, updating each Monday.
Stupid is as Stupid Does
Former OU All-American Roy Williams (1999-2001) and the stupid' Dallas Cowboys host the Philadelphia Eagles tonight.
The Cowboys hope to turn around a season that places them four games behind the Eagles in the NFC East midway through the season.
Last week, after a 26-3 loss to Cincinnati, Dallas head coach Bill Parcells repeatedly referred to his team as “stupid” but assumed that he was the one to blame for their lackluster performances.
Parcells will certainly be challenged. His counterpart, Andy Reid, is 13-1 with the Eagles on Monday night.
The game will begin at 8 p.m. CST.
Working Overtime
Backup quarterback David Garrard threw two touchdown passes, including a 36-yard strike to Jimmy Smith in overtime, to lead the Jacksonville Jaguars to a 23-17 victory over the Detroit Lions.
The Lions started three former Sooners tight end Stephen Alexander (1994-97), linebacker Teddy Lehman (2000-03) and offensive tackle Stockar McDougle (1998-99).
Alexander led the Lions in receptions with three for 26 yards. The
Lehman made six tackles as the Lions struggled to stop the Jags' running game.

Do the Safety Shuffle
The Chicago Bears defense knocked around the Tennessee Titans in the NFL's second-ever overtime win decided by a safety.
Alex Brown sacked Billy Volek in the end zone, forcing a fumble, and
Former Sooner Tommie Harris (2001-03) made four tackles and forced a Chris Brown fumble in the second quarter that was recovered by the Bears. Harris has 31 tackles and 3.5 sacks this season.
Titans cornerback Andre Woolfolk (1999-2002) also had four tackles in the game.
Former OU All-American Rocky Calmus is back to practice after recovering from injuries to his back and leg, but will still not be game ready for some time according to Titans' head coach Jeff Fisher.
The Titans next play the Jacksonville Jaguars while the Bears host the Indianapolis Colts.
Sacking Momentum
Quincy Carter's first start as a New York Jet was almost a pleasant experience.
Carter's accurate passing put the Jets up 14-0 and driving for more points when one play ruined their momentum. A halfback option pass was called for Lamont Jordan, who completed the pass to Ed Reed a
Ravens' defensive tackle and former Sooner Kelly Gregg (1995-98) made seven tackles and got to Carter three times for 1.5 sacks.
New York Jets defensive back
Next week, the Jets play the Cleveland Browns and the Ravens host the Dallas Cowboys.
Almost Overtime
The Green Bay Packers won their fourth-straight game, 34-31, in a shootout with the Minnesota Vikings.
Quarterbacks Brett Favre and Duante Culpepper were red hot on the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field, with each throwing four touchdown.
The shootout, however, came down to a battle of possession on a late fumble by Packer receiver Robert Ferguson. The officials eventually ruled possession to the Packers and
Former OU linebacker Torrance Marshall (1999-2000) delivered a striking block during one return that was deserving of several replays for a nationwide television audience.
Almost Overtime, Part Two
The New Orleans Saints rallied and then held on to a 27-20 victory from the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Saints defensive line pressured quarterback Trent Green into two mistakes on two late fourth-quarter drives as the Chiefs attempted to send the game to overtime.
Aaron Brooks threw a 42-yard touchdown to Joe Horn midway through the fourth quarter to take a seven-point lead and then Green was intercepted and sacked on consecutive drives to preserve the Saints win.
Former OU defensive back William Bartee (1998-99) had five tackles in the loss and Jimmy Wilkerson (2000-02) came off the bench to make one tackle.
The Chiefs play the defending Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots next Monday night.
Injury Bugged
The Broncos placed the Quentin Griffin (1999-2002) on injured reserve Wednesday, Oct. 27, after suffering a torn right anterior cruciate ligament during the second-half kickoff of a 23-10 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Former OU tight end Trent Smith (1999-2002) was placed on the injured reserve list by the Baltimore Ravens Aug. 31 and will miss his second consecutive season after, again, breaking his leg in a preseason game. Smith broke the leg in the Ravens' first preseason game versus the Atlanta Falcons.
New York Giants' and former OU defensive tackle Martin Chase (1994-97) was also placed on the IR with a knee injury and will sit out the 2004 season.
