NORMAN, Okla. -- Gayron Allen and Jason White have helped Oklahoma sweep two of the three weekly honors presented by the Big 12 Conference. Allen was named the league's defensive player of the week, while White garnered the same award on the offensive side. Both excelled in the Sooners' 30-3 win over Nebraska, Saturday.
Allen had eight tackles, one for a one-yard loss, and one interception with a 10-yard return. His pick came in the second quarter and set up Oklahoma on the Nebraska 31. Two plays later the Sooners had their second touchdown of the game. OU limited the Cornhuskers to just 274 yards and came within a few seconds of handing NU its first shutout in 112 games.
White earned Offensive Player of the Week laurels for the second week in succession after he completed 29-of-35 (82.9 percent) of his passes for 383 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. He broke his own school record by completing 18 consecutive passes in the contest as the Sooners clinched the 2004 Big 12 South Division title. His touchdown passes covered 13, four and 23 yards, and White utilized 11 different receivers during the game while posting the second-highest completion total of his career.
The weekly special teams honor went to Oklahoma State's Prentiss Elliott.
Oklahoma players have now won eight Big 12 Players of the Week honors this season.
