NORMAN, Okla. The University of Oklahoma soccer team lost its third consecutive game, falling 4-0 to Colorado on Friday in Boulder, Colo.
Colorado added its first goal in the 16th minute on an unassisted goal from Jen Thais. Oklahoma senior goalkeeper
Catherine Wade started the game for OU but was taken out after one goal allowed, one save and 22 minutes of action for freshman Jennifer Nichols.
The goalie switch did not have the effect the Sooners were looking for as the Buffaloes scored three unanswered goals in the second half. Colorado held the advantage in shots (26-8) and corner kicks (5-0). Nichols finished the game with a season-high nine saves.
Sophomore Savannah Scott led the Sooners with four shots in the contest, three of which were on goal. Sophomore Andrea Hurley and freshman Shana All added two shots each for OU.
Oklahoma falls to below .500 for the first time this season with a 6-7-3 overall mark and a 2-6 record in Big 12 play. Colorado improves to 11-4-2 and 4-3-1 in conference play.
With the loss, the Sooners remain in tenth place in the Big 12 standings. The top eight teams based on conference record advance to the Big 12 Tournament in San Antonio, Texas. With Oklahoma State's loss on Friday, the Sooners are still alive for the postseason. OU (2-6-0) is in a race with Oklahoma State (3-4-1) and Baylor (2-5-1) for the final spot. The Sooners have to win their last two games (Nebraska and OSU) and hope that OSU loses on Sunday in Stillwater against Colorado in order to qualify. Even if Baylor wins its last two games and OU wins its last two, the Sooners hold the tiebreaker after winning over the Bears earlier this season.
OU will host Nebraska (11-5-0, 5-2-0) on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Norman at John Crain Field.
