NORMAN, Okla. -- The 99th edition of the OU-Texas Red River Shootout was center stage for the Big 12 Conference this past weekend.

In front of a record crowd of 79,587 at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, No. 2 Oklahoma shut out the No.5 Longhorns, 12-0, with a stingy defense and a devastating ground game led by freshman Adrian Peterson. It marked the first time since 1972 that the Sooners had held Texas scoreless and the first time since 1980 that UT had been blanked in any game.

Records were also broken in other Big 12 action as Texas Tech administered a 70-10 whipping of Nebraska. A crowd of 52,594 jammed into Lubbock's Jones SBC Stadium to witness the worst defeat in the Nebraska program's 114-year history.
