January 03, 2004 | Men's Basketball
The University of Oklahoma men's basketball team is one of four squads that will be featured in the ensuing weeks on ESPN's "The Season." The first behind-the-scenes look at the 2003-04 Sooners, an unnarrated 60-minute segment, will be shown on the network on Saturday, Jan. 3, at 8:30 p.m. CST.
Additional 30-minute shows highlighting seventh-ranked OU will air on Tuesday, Jan. 6, and Tuesday, Jan. 13.
Teams scheduled to be featured following Oklahoma's three shows will be Memphis, Gonzaga and Utah.
Head coach Kelvin Sampson granted the cameras -- and microphones -- extensive access beginning on Dec. 20 for its Jackson State game. Viewers will see footage from practices, team meetings, pre- and postgame locker room speeches, and a lot more. ESPN will also air candid interviews with Sooner players and coaches, on campus and off.
The cable network will continue to chronicle OU's season through its Jan. 11 road game against current No. 1 Connecticut.
The Sooners play Princeton on Saturday at 4 p.m. CST in the Touchstone Energy All-College Classic. The game, which will air on ESPN2, will take place inside Oklahoma City's Ford Center. Oklahoma State and SMU will follow at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the event are still available.
