Klein to Play in Gridiron Classic on Saturday

Sooner defensive tackle Kory Klein will represent OU in the annual Gridiron Classic College All-Star Game on Saturday, Jan. 31st. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m.(CST) with the game airing live on ESPN. Klein will wear No. 97 on the South squad.

The senior from Tulsa, Okla., played in 54 games with 35 starts at defensive tackle for the Sooners from 2000-03. Klein amassed 108 tackles with 19 for loss, nine sacks and an interception over his OU career.

A construction science major, Klein was a first team Academic All-Big 12 selection and a member of the Big 12 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.

2004 Gridiron Classic | South Roster | North Roster

The Gridiron Classic will be played at The Villages Polo Stadium in The Villages, Fla., located approximately one-hour north of Orlando and will feature 93 college seniors from 58 schools.

Among the 93 players will be 18 representatives from Big Ten Conference schools, 14 players from the Southeastern Conference, 11 players from the Atlantic Coast Conference and 10 seniors from the Big 12. Also suiting up will be one player each from small schools East Texas Baptist University, Eastern Washington, Jackson State, Morgan State and Sacramento State.

In only five years of existence, the game has produced more than 350 players that have gone on to play in the NFL. Included in those numbers are current NFL stars Daunte Cullpepper, Anthony Henry, Jesse Palmer, Travis Fisher and New England Patriot starters Asante Samuel and Jarvis Green.

Klein is the sixth Sooner to play in a postseason All-Star game. Renaldo Works and Pasha Jackson were on the rosters for the East-West Shrine Game while Teddy Lehman, Derrick Strait and Brandon Everage played in the Senior Bowl.
