The University of Oklahoma men's tennis team will host Oklahoma Baptist on Fri., Jan. 30, to open the 2004 season. Action is set to begin at 12:30 p.m. at the Woodlake Racquet Club in Oklahoma City, Okla.
The Sooner men will be looking for another win over Oklahoma Baptist Friday. OU defeated Oklahoma Baptist twice in a doubleheader match in 2003. The Sooners swept the first match, 7-0, and finished the day with a 6-0 win over the Bisons.
Leading the Sooners this season is sophomore Tommy Garrison (Enid, Okla.). Garrison is back in the lineup after playing in the doubles bracket of the 2003 NCAA Championships.
In addition, the Sooners picked up three newcomers. In the fall, sophomore Lee Gregg (Altus, Okla.) and junior Ondrej Fukala (Prerov, Czech Republic) transferred from Oklahoma Christian. Freshman Marek Velicka (Prerov, Czech Republic) arrived at the start of the spring season.
