Oklahoma quarterback Jason White has found winning the Heisman Trophy doesn't impress everyone.
The first lesson came when he brought it home from New York. White put the trophy in its metal carrying case on a scale at the airport check-in counter and was asked what it was.
His response drew a look of disbelief from the clerk.
Back in Oklahoma, White knew the trophy wouldn't earn him special treatment from his teammates.
``When you are with your teammates you are not on a high anymore,'' White said. ``They make sure they keep you off of that pedestal by harassing you. We have had a lot of people win big awards this year and everyone is still treated the same as they were before they won the awards.''
There was one person he hoped would be proud of him, though.
``When I returned home I went and showed it to my high school coach,'' White said. ``He is the one who really taught me about work ethic. Until I got into high school I just thought I could get by on talent alone. When I was a freshman he really pushed me and that completely changed me. I really wanted him to see it.
