Jason White Quotes

On winning the Heisman Trophy:
"When I returned home I went and showed it to my high school coach. He is the one who really taught me about work ethic. Until I got into high school I just thought I could get by on talent alone. When I was a freshman he really pushed me and that completely changed me. I really wanted him to see it."

"I just took it home and showed it to some of the guys that I grew up with and I took it to my high school coach's office. That really keeps you humble."

"I know that I would not have even been close to receiving that award if it wasn't for my teammates and coaches."

On treatment from teammates about winning the Heisman:
"When I am with the guys I am back in the environment that I know best. When you are with your teammates you are not on a high anymore. They make sure they keep you off of that pedestal by harassing you. We have had a lot of people win big awards this year and everyone one is still treated the same as they were before they won the awards."

On LSU's defense:
"LSU is very similar to our defense. They have great athletes at every position just like our defense and they blitz a lot."

On telling his daughter about winning the Heisman:
"I tell her it is a reward that I received and that the team received."

On growing up in Tuttle, Okla.:
"The only this to do is play sports or be a farmer. I just wanted to play college football."

On Having Josh Heupel (starting QB on Oklahoma's 2000 national championship team) on the sidelines:
"Coming off of the sidelines knowing he was there just a couple of years ago really helps. He knows when I am shaken up and he can calm me down. IT is great to have him on the sidelines."

Mark Clayton Quotes

On what the team has been working on in practice:
Nothing fancy. We're just working hard and getting ready.

On if the team is ready for Sunday's game:
How can you not be? This is what you work all year for. This is what we talked about at the beginning of the season. This was one of our goals and we've worked hard to be here. We're blessed to be here.

On LSU's defense:
They're all big, physical guys and they're a good defense. But I think if we execute our offense the way we know we can, we'll be able to move the ball.

On the Clayton/Clayton comparison:
Obviously, he's a lot taller. He's a great kid. I got to watch a couple of his games, and he's a great player. He really knows how to use his body and knows how to go up and get the ball. I like to use my quickness. I try and get in and out of my breaks really fast and that basically comes down to quickness.

On creating yards after the catch:
Anything you do after the catch is big. It's something we always try and do make things happen after the catch but we're just going to go out there and play like we usually do.

On Jason White:
Of course he's been under a lot of pressure, but I think he's going to be all right. He's worked hard this week and has had some really good practices.

On how he would cover Michael Clayton:
I would watch his hands. His hands have to go up to get the ball, and when they go up, you put your hands in his hands.

On what the game will come down to:
Discipline. It's going to come down to the little things. Both teams have good defenses. Both teams have tremendous special teams. It's going to be the little things that make the difference.

On what makes his so good after the catch:
I don't know (laughing). I just try to make things happen when I have the ball in my hands. If there's a little hole I can slide through, I'm going to try. If there's a lane I can run in, I'm going to get there. I try to use my quickness for that, but it's also about running good routes.

Renaldo Works Quotes

On if the offense reflects the personality of the coaching staff just as the defense does:
"I think so. I mean we seem to be fundamentally sound. We had a downfall the last game just like any team can have a down game. Hopefully this game we'll be ready to play and I think our offense does reflect our coaches on both side of the ball."

On LSU's defense and what he notices about them:
"They have a lot of talent, and a lot speed, just like any defense. But they're just like everybody else we play. They have both size and speed. They blitz a lot. I noticed that on tape. If they're blitzing 8-9 men, there's going to be somebody open."

On the importance of the running attack to the success of the OU offense:
"I think they're both important. The running game complements the passing game and the passing game complements the running game. If you pass the ball and you're [assign the ball well you know it will open up the run game and spread the defense out and then you';lll be able to run the ball more efficiently."

On the importance of the picking up the blitzes and protecting Jason White:

On who LSU's defense reminds him of:
"A lot of the teams we played had size and speed, but I think more closely it's an Alabama-type team, but I think a lot of teams we played are similar to them. Oh yeah, this defense alone is one of the best defenses in the nation and I believe that truly."

On criticism of the running game lately:
"I don't know about being criticized but I know we've got our work ahead of us and we've got to do what we got to do to come out with a victory and hopefully the running game will be a big part of it."

On being ready to play today:
"Oh yeah, I think we're ready to play. There's little things we're still working on, but we'll get those ironed out and be ready to go on Sunday."

On the importance of Jason White and how he plays:
"We'll be counting on Jason, but also on all the players on our squad to make big plays. Jason will be fine. He'll be ready to play. We're counting on him a ton, just like we're counting on every player. He's a real humble, relaxed type of guy. You don't have to get on him about anything."

On what was the defining game for this team:
"We're still trying to define ourselves. The Texas game was defining but we're still trying after Kansas State I think. We know any team can beat any one on any given day."

On keys to winning the game:
"Field position, return units, holding the ball, running the ball well, passing the ball well. I don't think it's going to be 2 or 3 plays that win the game. There are a lot of plays."

Vince Carter Quotes

On key to game:
We have played hard all season and now we just have to play smarter. We know whoever controls the line wins the game. The biggest key is recognizing where the blitz is coming from and being alert."

On Coach Stoops' trick play calling:
Coach Stoops will call fake field goals or whatever and sometimes it even surprises us. Knowing that he has the faith in us to put the game in our hands makes us go out there and play our hearts out for him."

On similarities between OU and LSU defenses:
"I can only think of one blitz LSU does that our defense doesn't. So going through practice all year against our defense has helped a lot."

"Running backs in general, we've all got to pick up the blitzes. I'll be ready for whoever they bring and be ready to just take 'em on. As long as we have our protections down as far as the line we'll be fine. (Protecting Jason) is very important. If they're hitting Jason and Jason is on his butt the majority of the day, then we'll have a long day but as long as we keep 'em off of him, I think we'll be fine."

On the Kansas State loss:
"I don't really think it affected us at all. If we had listened to what people said all year we wouldn't be here today. There are a lot of things we could have done better. You have to learn from those mistakes, but for the most part we have forgotten about that game."

On the possibility of a shared national championship:
"My mom taught me to share when I was a kid, but there are some things you don't want to share and a national championship is one of them."
