Oklahoma-Alabama Game Notes

*Alabama falls to No. 1 Oklahoma 20-13 here tonight at Bryant-Denny Stadium, dropping the Crimson Tide to 3-4 (.429) all-time against the nation's top ranked team. Oklahoma was the first ever No. 1 team to play Alabama here in Tuscaloosa and was the highest ranked team to visit campus since No. 4 TCU beat Alabama 23-6 on Oct. 13, 1956.

*The game captains for the Alabama Crimson Tide were senior right guard Dennis Alexander (Memphis), senior right cornerback Anthony Madison (Thomasville) and senior Lance Taylor (Mt. Vernon) representing the special teams.

*Tonight's attendance was a sellout crowd of 83,818 here in Bryant-Denny Stadium.

*Alabama issued more than 700 media credentials for tonight's game between the Crimson Tide and No.1 ranked Oklahoma Sooners, the highest attended non-conference game in stadium history. The 700 credentials also rivals the numbers issued for the Alabama-Tennessee (1999 and 2001) and the Alabama-Auburn (2000 and 2002) games. The previous record for a non-conference game was the Oct. 25, 1986 Alabama-Penn State game, where the No. 6 Lions beat the No. 2 Crimson Tide, 23-3.

*In addition to the normal contingent that follows Alabama and Oklahoma on a daily basis, the game tonight attracted national attention from The New York Times, The New York Daily News, The Boston Globe, Sports Illustrated, CBSSportsline.com, ESPN.com, USA Today, The Los Angeles, The Dallas Morning News and The San Antonio News Express.

*In addition, the game was aired by several broadcast entities, including ESPN, ESPN 'College GameDay', ESPN GameDay Radio and Westwood One Radio.

*The breakdown of games against the No. 1 ranked team for Alabama is 1-2 (.333) in regular-season play and 2-2 in post-season bowl games. Alabama's regular season win came at No. 1 Southern Cal (21-20) on Oct. 8, 1977 at the LA Coliseum. The two losses came to Auburn (40-0) at Legion Field in 1957 and Oklahoma here tonight.

*The win by Oklahoma completes a two-game, home-and-home sweep by the Sooners in this non-conference series. OU won last year 37-27 in Norman, its first-ever win over Alabama. With the win tonight, OU now leads the all-time series with Alabama, 2-1-1.

*With Oklahoma's win tonight over Alabama, the No. 1 team improves to 7-0 (1.000) all-time here in Bryant-Denny Stadium. Alabama was 6-0 as the No.1 ranked team and last played here as the top-ranked team on Oct. 25, 1980 and posted a 42-7 win over Southern Miss.

*Alabama falls to 3-7 (.300) all-time against Top10 teams here in Tuscaloosa, including a 0-3 mark against Top 5 clubs.

*Since 1977, Alabama is now 9-7 (.563) against Top 10 teams.

*The Crimson Tide also drops to 93-12-1 in all-time Tuscaloosa openers. Alabama has compiled a 187-34-3 all-time record here in Bryant-Denny Stadium and has lost two straight games. In all games played in Tuscaloosa, Alabama has fashioned a 272-47-3 all-time record.

*Alabama also lost the turnover battle with Sooners in tonight's game. The Crimson Tide had two turnovers (2 interceptions), while OU did not have a turnover. OU scored three points off Bama's two turnovers. Last week, Alabama did not have a turnover in its win over South Florida, while the Bulls committed three turnovers.

*The Alabama-Oklahoma game marks just the 19th night game in the history of Bryant-Denny Stadium. Alabama has compiled a 16-3 (.842) under the lights here in Bryant-Denny Stadium. Alabama played two night games here last year and tonight's game with OU marks the first of three straight games under the lights here at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Following tonight's game, Alabama hosts Kentucky (6:47 PM, ESPN) and Northern Illinois (6 PM) the next two weeks.
