The Boz Joins TBS

Turner Sports announced today that legendary Oklahoma Sooners linebacker Brian Bosworth will join TBS Superstation's Big PlayStation Saturday this season as a studio analyst for its pre-game, post-game and halftime shows.

Bosworth will be teamed with Emmy Award winning host Ernie Johnson in the studio for the Superstation's 11 Big 12 and Pac-10 primetime telecasts, beginning on Saturday, Sept. 6 with LSU @ Arizona at 10 p.m. ET/ 7 p.m. PT. Play-by-play announcer Ron Thulin will call the game action with analyst Charles Davis and sideline reporter Craig Sager.

In addition, Erin Andrews returns to provide atmosphere pieces from the site that showcase the tradition and pageantry of these two great conferences.

Bosworth played for the Sooners from 1984-86, earning consensus All-America honors twice (1985, '86), All Big Eight (now Big 12) honors three times (1984,'85, '86), and became the first player ever to win the Butkus Award, given to the nation's top linebacker, two times (1985, '86). Bosworth also excelled in the classroom, earning 1986 Academic All-America honors.

Known as "The Boz" for his brash, outspoken candor, outrageous Mohawk haircuts and outgoing personality, Bosworth helped lead the Sooners to the 1985 National Championship, and to an impressive overall record of 31-4-1 during his three-years at Oklahoma. Bosworth was the top pick in the NFL's 1987 supplemental draft by the Seattle Seahawks, but a shoulder injury forced him to retire after three years.

Big 12 and Pac-10 teams represented five of the top-10 and eight of the top-25 ranked teams in the nation in the final AP rankings for NCAA Division 1-A college football in 2002. Entering 2003, the Big 12 and Pac-10 represent four of the top-10 and eight of the top-25 ranked teams in the nation in the current AP ranking poll, with Bosworth's alma mater Oklahoma ranked number one in the country.
