Sooners Bring Two-A-Days To A Close

Oklahoma has revised its preseason practice schedule thus ending two-a-day drills for this year.  OU practiced twice on Wednesday, but will go to single practices for the remainder of the week.

Thursday and Friday practices will be from 5-7 p.m.  The Thursday workout will be at the OU Intramural Fields on Stinson Street and will be the final practice open to the public.  Friday and Saturday practices will move to the practice field adjacent to the stadium and both will be closed.

The team wore the retro helmets and black shoes that will be part of the opening night uniform during both practices on Wednesday.  Head coach Bob Stoops said the equipment needed breaking in before game use.

During Wednesday night's drills, Mark Bradley, who spent much of the early practice time at cornerback, worked out as a wide receiver.

Here are Stoops' comments following Wednesday night's practice ...

On Mark Bradley:  "Mark's knee gets sore from time to time and we believe that he'll be able to tolerate more offensively and see the field more often and have a chance to make more plays.  On defense, seeing more plays, just takes more time.  He'll help us.  We've just been fighting to find the right position for him."

On changing the practice schedule:  "We're satisfied that we've made good progress.  We just want to make sure we've giving the guys ample time to get their legs back.  We want them to be ready for game week.  We'll make up for (the extra practice) with meetings and with what practice we do have."

On working on future opponents:  "We've done that already.  We do that through two-a-days."
