NORMAN, Okla.

The Oklahoma mens gymnastics team not only succeeded in the gym with their second consecutive NCAA National Championship in 2003, but it also excelled in the classroom. Junior-to-be Josh Gore and departed seniors Brett Covey and Daniel Furney were named All-America Scholar Athletes by the College Gymnastics Association. As a team, OU and its combined 3.161 GPA ranked fifth among NCAA mens gymnastics teams.

"Were pleased with the overall team GPA being above 3.0 and certainly congratulate Josh Gore, Brett Covey and Daniel Furney for their outstanding work not only in classroom, but also for their efforts in attaining a second consecutive national championship."

The Sooners climbed up the national academic ranks to fifth after finishing seventh in the CGA National Academic Team Champions ranking last season.
