The starting time and television assignments for the first two University of Oklahoma 2003 football games have been announced.

The season opener against North Texas, the first game in the expanded and improved Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium is set or 6 p.m., on Aug. 30. FOX will carry the game, which also will feature the Sooners in retro uniforms from the 1950's era.

The second contest, at Alabama, has been picked up by ESPN and will begin at 6:30 p.m.

OU is a hot commodity with the television networks, partly because of the great preseason attention that has been heaped on the program. Already picked No. 1 by Athlon's, another national preseason magazine, Lindy's, also likes the Sooners as its favorite to win the national championship.

OU's players report to Norman on Aug. 6. The annual fan appreciation day will take place Aug. 9. Details, including starting time and other parameters, will be announced at a later date.
