OU, with a rate of 82%, is among the other 31 schools receiving honorable mention.
"We're pleased with the new trend," said Dr. Gerald Gurney, associate athletics director for academic affairs. "We will also announce NCAA record graduation rates for all student-athletes later this summer and expect to post numbers that will lead the Big 12 Conference."
This honor, which previously was presented by the College Football Association, is the first of its kind for OU. Gurney pointed out that many of the student-athletes included in this study were members of the Sooners' 2000 national championship team.
The study involves the freshman class from the academic year of 1997-98, including those who entered at that time but who did not receive financial aid until after their initial year, or who transferred from another institution and subsequently received a grant-in-aid.
