Women Golfers In Fifth At Big 12 Championships

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's golf team shot nine strokes better today and is in fifth place with a 619 after two rounds at the Big 12 Championships in Columbia, Mo. The Sooners' 305 was the fourth-best round of the day at the 6,008-yard, par-72 Country Club of Missouri golf course. The University of Missouri maintained its Monday first-place standing and is in the lead with a 604, one stroke better than Oklahoma State.
Junior Lisa Meldrum is still leading the Sooner squad after firing a second-round 75 and is in eighth place with a 151 (+7). Junior Hope Edge improved by seven strokes from the first round with a one-over-par 73 today and is tied for 12th with a 153 (+9). Freshman Amparo Gala is tied for 22nd after recording a second-round 75 for 156 (+12) total strokes. Senior Allison Johnson carded an 82 today for a total of 159 (+15) and is tied for 31st while sophomore Emily Milberger shot a second-round 82 and is tied for 46th with a 165 (+21).
The final 18 holes of the 2003 Big 12 Championships will begin Wednesday at 8 a.m.
