NORMAN, Okla. - Four members of the University of Oklahoma women's golf team were honored by the Big 12 Conference today for their success in the classroom and on the golf course. Hope Edge, Allison Johnson, Lisa Meldrum and Emily Milberger were first-team Academic All-Big 12 selections.
Johnson, a senior, and Milberger, a sophomore, were two out of three on the entire first team with a perfect 4.0 GPA the past two semesters. Johnson has recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA in each of the three years she has been on the academic all-conference team.
"We're so proud because they are not only good athletes but great students," head coach Carol Ludvigson said. "They stand for the student-athlete concept and it's amazing they were able to accomplish this while traveling all the time. It just shows they are dedicated to everything they do."
In order to be named to the first team, the student-athletes must have maintained a 3.20 GPA and have participated in 60 percent of the team's scheduled contests.
