OU Women's Golf Set To Compete In SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational

The OU women's golf team will compete in the SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational March 9-11. The tournament is being played at the 6,701-yard, par-70 University Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla.
The three-day event will be formatted with 18 holes played each day. Sunday and Monday play will begin at 8 a.m. (EST) and Tuesday's shotgun start will also be at 8 a.m.
Competing for the Sooners will be junior Hope Edge, senior Allison Johnson, freshman Amparo Gala, junior Lisa Meldrum and sophomore Emily Milberger.
The 16-team field will consist of Baylor, Central Florida, Florida, Florida State, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, Michigan State, Mississippi, Mississippi State, North Carolina State, Ohio State, Oklahoma, South Florida, Tennessee and Tulane.

"We feel real good about our five girls that are competing for us. Anyone in this lineup can shoot a low score. We are also excited because the field is extremely competitive. We would really like to finish better than Florida, Tulane and Michigan State. Also, we would like to put together three solid rounds this tournament because that is something we have yet to do."
Sooners Place 12th at Lady Puerto Rico Classic
The Sooners finished 12th at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic held Feb. 28-March 1 in Humacao, Puerto Rico. The team recorded a 930 while tournament champion Duke's total was 872. The 15-team field played at the 6,000-yard, par-72 Palmas Del Mar Country Club. The tournament featured 12 of the top 30 teams in the Golfweek rankings.
Junior Lisa Meldrum tied for 23rd place after recording a 228. Freshman Amparo Gala had her best finish of the season after shooting a 232 to tie for 38th. Junior Hope Edge tied for 54th with 238 total strokes while senior Allison Johnson placed 59th with a 240. Sophomore Emily Milberger tied for 60th with a total of 241 after recording her lowest round of the year (73).
