NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's golf team recorded a 301 in the final round to earn fourth place honors at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas. The Sooners tournament total of 936 was 40 strokes behind tournament champion Oklahoma State.
The 12-team field played at the 6,247-yard, par-72 Hills Country Club in Austin, Texas.
Leading the Sooners was freshman Amparo Gala who had a career day after recording a final-round 70 for a tournament total of 225 to earn fourth place honors. Junior Lisa Meldrum shot a third-round 73, eight strokes better than Monday's round, to finish tied for 13th with a total of 234. Junior Hope Edge carded a 79 on the final 18 holes and tied for 26th with 239 total strokes. Senior Allison Johnson tied for 33rd with a three-round 245 after recording an 84 in the final round while junior Emily Milberger also tied for 33rd carding a 79 in the final round. Freshman Cathryn Uselton, competing as an individual, shot an 85 and tied for 62nd with 260 total strokes.
Oklahoma will next host the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic April 7-8 at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Course in Norman, Okla. This is the last regular season tournament before the Sooners begin postseason play.
