NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's golf team is in sixth place with a score of 603 at the SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational. The Sooners shot a first-round 298 and a second-round 305 after inclement weather cancelled the first round on Monday. Oklahoma trails tournament leader and host, Florida, by 26 strokes.
Leading the way for the Sooners are senior Allison Johnson and junior Lisa Meldrum who are both tied for 15th with a 149. Johnson recorded a 74 in the first round and fired a 75 in the second round. Meldrum shot a first-round 76 and a second-round 73.
Freshman Amparo Gala is tied for 32nd after rounds of 74 and 78, respectively. Sophomore Emily Milberger carded a 74 in the first round and a 79 in the second round and is tied for 37th with a total of 153. Junior Hope Edge rounds out the Sooner quintet with a total of 159 and is tied for 61st.
The tournament is being played at the 6,701-yard, par-70 University Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla. The final 18 holes will be played Tuesday with a shotgun start beginning at 8 a.m. (EST).
