NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma men's gymnastics assistant coach Guard Young finished sixth in the all-around with a score of 54.100 at the Visa American Cup in Fairfax, Va. Highlights of Young's meet included a fourth place finish on the parallel bars (8.950) and a fifth place finish on the rings (9.450).

"It has always been a dream of mine because this meet is such a prestigious event," said Young. "It was real honor to compete with some of the best gymnasts in the world and I learned some lessons in this meet. Hopefully I can apply those in my gymnastics career and pass those along to the gymnasts at Oklahoma."

In the field of eight, Young finished sixth despite facing competition with a far more international experience than himself. Young also finished sixth on the vault (9.250), sixth on the floor (9.075), seventh on high bar (8.500), and eighth on parallel bars (8.875).

Fellow American Blaine Wilson won the all-around (56.900) with teammate Brett McClure just behind in second place (56.350).
